Customizing a Cookbook Indesign Template
- Find the template in the /Carlisle File/z Indesign Templates/Cookbooks folder.
- COPY the template .indd file to your customer's folder. (Do not work on templates in this folder directly!)
- Rename this template file. (include IMPORT TEMPLATE as part of the name, like "my cookbook IMPORT TEMPLATE.indd")
- Open this new file in indesign
- Adjust the page sizes.
- Adjust the Master Pages' margins.
- Adjust the Master Pages' special "Text Variables" (The template includes one of each on the Master Pages, but you can insert more by clicking "Type/Text Variables/Insert Variable/" then choose one of the "Carlisle - " variables.
- Adjust the Master Pages' page numbers.
- Add other Master Page design elements.
- import a cookbook as a single file into the template.
- Adjust paragraph styles until things look about like you want them to look.
- Save the template.
